Frightful Friday 13th

Dare you spend Friday 13th in one of the most haunted buildings in Britain? Friday 13th September is the launch of the brand new Ghost Tour at Galleries of Justice. Expect to experience paranormal shocks, sounds and unexplained sensations. Prior the launch, main character Lilith Adams answered some of our questions about the new tour. Believe me, it is not for the faint hearted! Over to you Lilith... My dear friends, Let me first introduce myself. My name is Lilith Adams, and I am the keeper of secrets, teller of tales and guardian of ghosts for the poor souls still seeking eternal rest after their earthly lives were cut short. Some by poverty and squalor, others choking on the end of a rope. You say we are not safe by day, exactly what do you mean by that? I am not constrained by day or night, because although you see me, I am what will remain in your head after you have left the building. People leave the dark and feel they are safe just because the sun shines and the birds sing, yet as they walk down the road they still look over their shoulders, and the fear they felt will linger. Describe the sights, smells and sounds visitors will experience on this terrifying tour. The sights, smells and sounds depend on the ‘visitor’ themselves. I have had some people say they can smell gas, body odour and faeces. Others say they hear noises, laughter and crying. Whilst others, jump when they see what they believe to be anomalies, orbs and shadows. Exactly what will happen on the tour if it is not for the faint hearted? Oh now come, if I were to tell you exactly what will happen on the tour, then I rob you of the tension and suspense that will get your heart, brave or faint, pumping that much needed blood around your quaking limbs. However, I will tease you with this snippet.  You will be guided from a place of consecrated rest, to the dark corridors of the Gaol. I myself have the only light so heed my words carefully, only I know what might be waiting round the next corner. When I tell you to stay put, you do exactly that... it is, after all for your own safety. Can you tell us about a spooky experience you've had at the Galleries of Justice Museum? There are those who can tell you ‘spooky experiences’ of doors opening when no  one’s there, and of footsteps being heard when you know you are alone. The staff, and those who partake of paranormal investigations, tell many experiences of being watched, or of feeling overwhelmed with sadness in certain areas. There are the experiences of séances and table tipping, Ouija boards and clairvoyance by people who seek the departed. What would you say is the most haunted part of the building? All of it! But I sense you want something more ‘exact’ as you put it. The laundry has seen most activity recently, with poltergeist and a cloying sadness which affects those who have children in their lives. The dungeons, are particularly atmospheric, usually it is a gaoler who makes his presence known, especially to women. Children flit around the gaol, and many accounts of hearing them laugh and run away have been told by investigative groups. And there have been many ‘sightings’ of shadows running past or upstairs. But it’s not all down in the gaol you know, in the entrance hall and even Divine Cafe in the museum has had its fair share of inquisitive souls. Do you have a special connection with the paranormal world? I have a connection with the lives that were lived in Narrow Marsh and the Gaol, and I have been chosen to tell their stories. I am no one special. The new Ghost Tour will start at the very eerie St Mary’s graveyard, and will take place weekly on Friday nights at 6pm. Booking is advisable but you can turn up on the night, subject to availability.
