The Colosseum and The Reichstag Rebuilt for Harley Gallery

The World’s greatest buildings and landmarks have been recreated in LEGO® bricks by Warren Elsmore as part of the extraordinary Brick City exhibition at The Harley Gallery on the Welbeck Estate this autumn, which opens 17 October and runs until 10 January 2016. Featuring such acclaimed structures as Westminster Abbey in London, the grandeur of Washington’s Lincoln Memorial, Rome’s ornate Trevi Fountain, and the iconic L’Arc de Triomphe in Paris, visitors can see some of the world’s foremost attractions… all in miniature. The star of the show is undoubtedly a 5ft tall by 5ft long replica of St Pancras station in London, which took more than 500 hours to build over two years. Created from more than 150,000 LEGO® pieces, the station is fully 'working' in that each of the six platforms can be used and trains run in and out. With more than 50 models on display at The Harley Gallery’s free exhibition, Brick City is the vision of LEGO® artist Warren Elsmore who gave up his career as an IT Consultant to build his magnificent, detailed LEGO® structures when they started to attract international acclaim. His models have been displayed at leading galleries across the World and he has even produced a bestselling book on the subject ‘Brick City: LEGO® for Grown Ups’. Of course, a LEGO® exhibition wouldn’t be complete without the chance to actually play with the brick pieces. Activities for children (of all ages) will run throughout the exhibition, including a 'build a bauble' workshop and the opportunity to pit your building skills against an architect. For the more competitive, The Harley Gallery is looking for LEGO® master builders of all ages and backgrounds to enter its competition to find the best new LEGO® structure. Models brought along to the gallery from 28^th September to 4^th October will be exhibited in the Gallery alongside Brick City.  The “best build in show”, selected by Warren Elsmore and his team, will win a £150 gift voucher to spend at The Harley Shop – the winner will be able to choose from lots of brick themed goodies, contemporary craft and gorgeous gifts. The Harley Gallery is situated on the Welbeck Estate in Sherwood Forest, near Worksop in Nottinghamshire, an area of great natural beauty. The Estate is part of ‘the Dukeries’ so called because it contained four ducal seats: Welbeck Abbey - principal seat of the Dukes of Portland, Clumber House, Thoresby Hall and Worksop Manor.
