Q&A - Nottingham: A Tale of Two Cities Tour

There's always room for more however, and we're delighted to welcome a brand new entertaining and informative guided walk, which promises to provide a different way of seeing things in Nottingham. Ahead of the first outing of the Nottingham: A Tale of Two Cities Tour, which takes place on May 6th, we spoke to Felicity Whittle, an award-winning Blue Badge Tourist Guide with over a decade of guiding experience and founder of Gold Star Guides. The tours are a joint project between Felicity and fellow Blue Badge Tourist Guide, Harvey Goodman.

What can visitors expect from your tour?

An entertaining, enlightening and fun, 90 minute introduction to a wonderful city, led by professionally trained Blue Badge Tourist Guides.

How have you built up this tour?

By doing a lot of walking! Using our local and historical knowledge the tour more or less presented itself. Being dedicated guides we did a lot of practice of different routes on our patient friends!

What’s the most rewarding part of sharing your knowledge?

Seeing the pleasure it gives others, both visitors and residents, to see or hear about things they may not have known or noticed before.

What do you like most about Nottingham?

It's friendliness; its vitality and variation; the mix of old and new, history and innovation - and the sound of the Little John bell.

What else would you recommend visitors do in the area?

Definitely take a cave tour as Nottingham's caves are a unique and very special part of the city. Maybe a stroll through the Lace Market Creative Quarter sampling the many independent shops and cafes.
