Unmissable Sporting Events Coming Soon!

From the Aegon Open Nottingham, to Test Match cricket at Trent Bridge, we've already enjoyed some stirring sporting action in Nottinghamshire this summer. The football has returned, the T-20 cricket is a blast, and The Panthers are back prowling the ice. What's more, the 2017 action is just hotting up, and we've got a whole heap of great events on their way over the coming weeks. So whether you want to dive into the action, or roar on some of the UK's finest Olympians from a safe distance, take a look at some of the sporting highlights you can get involved with here in our beautiful county of Nottinghamshire.

Mixed Relay Cup – 2nd September

This exciting new format of triathlon racing is an all out, action-packed version of the sport, and we can't wait to see the likes of Jonathan Brownlee swimming the River Trent, and racing across the famous Trent Bridge. A crowd of 20,000 spectators, and a live BBC television audience will follow the action as up to 20 elite teams, including Olympians, battle to become the event’s inaugural champions. Teams of four will compete in the frenetic relay, each swimming 300 metres in the River Trent, taking on a 7.5km bike ride and running for 1.5km, before they tag a teammate to take over. This format means spectators will be passed by the athletes on multiple occasions during the event - as many as 20 times in some locations! Tickets for the Grand Stand are now sold out, but fear not, you can line 99% of the course to cheer on the Olympians for free.

Tour of Britain Stage Four – 6th September

Nottinghamshire will be lucky enough to host an entire stage of this year's event, giving the county a chance to showcase its beauty to an international audience. Taking in the delights of north Nottinghamshire, the cyclists will weave their way past heritage sites, beauty spots and thousands of spectators along the course. The road racing is sure to be ferocious, and an exciting finish awaits in the market town of Newark. Read more

Robin Hood Open Golf Tournament – 17th September

Dodge the deer as you take part in this annual golf tournament, which plays out in the shadow of the magnificent Wollaton Hall. Players in all events must hold a CONGU competition handicap, and you can enter via the Wollaton Park Golf Club website.

England v West Indies ODI – 21st September

England may have flopped in the Second Test match at Trent Bridge earlier in the summer, but they bounced back strongly to see off South Africa's challenge, and convincingly win the series. The England One Day International side will be looking to make amends for the poor showing in Nottingham, as they meet the West Indies in what's sure to be a fiery encounter, with big hits and boundaries aplenty. A few remaining tickets are on-sale from Trent Bridge.

Robin Hood Marathon & Half Marathon – 24th September

Join thousands of runners as you pound the streets of Nottingham, jogging beside landmarks and the River Trent, on this brand new course for 2017.
