The Portland Collection

About

Situated in The Courtyard at Welbeck on the historic Welbeck estate, the award-winning Harley Gallery shows contemporary exhibitions by leading artists. Exhibitions change five times a year, and range from ceramics to photography.

The Portland Collection, alongside The Harley Gallery, displays works of art from Welbeck’s significant historic collection, which has been amassed over more than 400 years by the Dukes of Portland and their families. It showcases treasures ranging from full-length oil paintings by great masters to one of the largest privately-owned collections of miniatures. The collection also includes books, letters, silverware, ceramics and furniture.

The Courtyard is also home to the gallery shop, which specialises in contemporary craft from leading names and emerging makers, and the award-winning Welbeck Farm Shop and The Harley Café.

Additional activities range from events, talks and open art studios to guided tours of the State Rooms at Welbeck Abbey. There are also practical workshops for adults within the Harley Studios, arts clubs for children of all ages, plus a children’s activity area within The Harley Gallery.

The Harley Gallery is easily reached from the A1 and M1.
