Sherwood Pines Camping in the Forest Site, Nottinghamshire

About

Brand new for 2021, Sherwood Pines is the newest edition to the Camping in the Forest network, providing a unique and peaceful getaway for family and friends. Located near Sherwood Forest, it’s the perfect campsite base to immerse yourself in the magic and legend of Robin Hood and his merry men.

Sherwood Pines is open all year, so you can enjoy the stunning seasonal colours throughout all seasons. With over 150 pitches across 20 acres of woodland, there is plenty of open space and is ideal for all forms of camping in all weather, welcoming tents and caravans with grass and hardstanding pitches.

Full facilities are available, including toilets and showers, dishwashing facilities and a laundry block. Pets are welcome too, with a fantastic dog wash on-site, so your four-legged friend can join in with the holiday fun.

With a play area on site, it’s great for families to spend time together out in the great outdoors. For any everyday essentials you may have forgotten, there’s no need to travel far with a well-stocked on-site shop.

You won’t be stuck for things to do in the area; Forestry England have numerous walking and cycling routes to suit all abilities. From gentle strolls to take your time and appreciate the sights and sounds of the forest, to challenging cycle routes to get your heart pumping.

A visit to the biggest oak tree in Britain, the Major Oak, is certainly one to tick off your ‘to do’ list. Just a 15-minute walk from the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, the tree is said to be around 1,000 years old and has been seen by visitors from all over the world -  it’s certainly an icon of the area.

If you’re a thrill seeker and fancy a different view of the forest, take on the obstacles high in the treetops at the nearby Go Ape Sherwood. For those who fancy their hand at paintballing, axe and hammer throwing or quad biking, Adrenaline Jungle is the perfect day out.

For a family friendly trip, a short distance away is the Sherwood Forest Railway, Nottinghamshire’s only narrow-gauge steam railway. Discover and enjoy a ride on their collection of small locomotives in the historic village of Edwinstowe.

No need to pack your kitchen cupboards, Nottinghamshire has plenty of places to eat and drink for whatever your taste buds crave. From cafes serving homemade treats to cosy countryside pubs and inviting restaurants.

Escape to the great outdoors and book your next adventure at Sherwood Pines campsite. We can’t wait to welcome you to your natural habitat.
