About

If you go down to the woods today, you’re in for a big surprise!

The Woodland Adventure Zone is a new, triple-award winning, accessible forest adventure, purpose-built within the grounds of Portland College near Mansfield.

Set amongst acres of pine trees in Sherwood Forest, it is a truly unique setting for your outdoor adventure.

With access for wheelchair users and people with disabilities, the Woodland Adventure Zone provides an exciting experience for people of all ages and abilities.

Things to do:

Climbing – The 7m climbing tower is perfect for both experienced climbers and people new to the activity.  There are different routes to explore, with some more challenging than others, meaning you can reach the peak in your own way.

Abseiling – What goes up must come down! So, you’ve mastered the climb and admired the treetop view, next you can experience the thrill of abseiling back down to ground level.

Gravity Drop – If you’re feeling really brave, you can try the gravity drop.  This exhilarating, fully controlled descent gives the illusion of free-falling – it really is a leap of faith!

Zipline – Fly through the trees on the 90m zipline reaching speeds of around 30 miles an hour.

Bushcraft – The bushcraft activities are great for learning outdoor skills, such as fire building, shelter/den making or cooking.  They can also run games and treasure hunts to make your visit even more fun!

Woodland walks – If you’re looking for a more relaxing experience you can enjoy a stroll around the woodlands, look out for wildlife and enjoy the natural environment.

Gravity trail – If you’re already booked onto a session, why not bring your bike too, then you can finish your day with a cycle around the forest, and if you’re an experienced cyclist you could try out the gravity trail too.

Sensory play – Perfect for people with sensory needs, there is a range of play equipment dotted around the forest such as a wheelchair swing, musical instruments, dens and games.

There really is something for everyone, so book your place, take your friends and family, take a picnic and make a real day of it!

Parties:

Whatever the occasion, the party packages will give you a celebration to remember!

Perfect for all ages, if you love the outdoors, then book your party amongst the trees.  Party guests can enjoy a 3-hour experience that includes a choice of 2 activities and access to a dedicated party room.  Guests can decorate the room and take their own party food, if you’ve got a particular theme in mind the team can help you with that too.

Holiday Fun:

During school holidays there are a range of fun activities, such as the popular dinosaur trail and treasure hunts.  Keep an eye on their website or the What’s on Guide to see what exciting things they have planned.
