Aaron Liddard's Nylon Man
An energetic saxophonist whose music is unpredictable, infectious, and wildly ear opening. He has performed with Amy Winehouse, Beverley Knight, Bob Geldof and Prince. "An astounding album" - Blues Matters
"Pure sax appeal" – Peter Lewis, Blues & Soul magazine
"The Sound of Surprise" – Jonathon Wingate, BBC
London-based saxophonist and composer Aaron Liddard released his debut solo album Nylon Man on British independent label Havis House in 2022, to critical acclaim.
Featuring a plethora of guest contributions from the likes of Carleen Anderson, Omar Puente and Miss Baby Sol, Nylon Man is 12 tracks of jazz influenced by the music of Europe, North and South America, the Caribbean and Africa. In his prolific and wide-ranging career, Aaron has contributed to many different musical experiences, including working with Amy Winehouse, Prince and Maceo Parker, and in genres ranging from hip-hop and rock to Latin music and gospel. But jazz has always been the closest music to his heart. "Jazz is the only living musical art-form that is not defined by its exclusions," says Aaron. "At its truest, jazz is an evolving aural tradition. As a musician with myriad musical influences, jazz is the only home that allows me to fully explore."
Blues and Soul magazine put Aaron on their cover (issue 1059) along with a three-page feature and four-star review. American jazz website All About Jazz made Corean Castaway (a tribute to Chick) their 'Song of the Day,' and Jazz FM's Rouhangeze Baichoo made Thru Your Eyes (a modern take on The Great American Songbook) 'Song of the Week.'
Features ran in London Jazz News and North East Online. Interviews followed with London Jazz Live, BBC Manchester and Radio Northumberland. The album was reviewed by Jazzwise, Bebop Spoken. Here, The Jazz Mann, Blues Matters, Midwest Record, and Wall Of Sound. Over thirty radio DJs played tracks from Nylon Man, including stations in the UK, USA and Europe.
The Nylon Man tour has included two sold-out shows at Ronnie Scotts, and jazz festivals and clubs around the UK. Shows are inclusive, serious and fun. Music for reflection and celebration. Audiences have been known to get involved, spontaneously clapping, singing along and dancing. The multi-ethnic sextet combines members from the UK, Italy and Ghana.
"An astounding album." – Colin Campbell, Blues Matters
"Supremely talented saxophonist." – Lance Liddle, Bebop Spoken Here
