Performing contemporary arrangements of jazz classics by Coltrane, Shorter, Rollins, Henderson, Mobley.
The Brandon Allen Quartet is a new group that performs contemporary arrangements of standard repertoire, jazz classics (Coltrane, Shorter, Henderson, Rollins, Mobley) and original compositions.
The longstanding musical partnership of saxophonist Brandon Allen and pianist Tim Lapthorn is again at this project's core. The addition of Jeremy Brown (bass) and Chris Higginbottom (drums) has proved to be a potent mix, the group creates an explosive blend of melodic improvisation, heavy swing emotional freedom and spontaneity.
The group's repertoire is inspired by swing, bebop, Latin music, contemporary jazz and, above all else, their experience of life right now.
