Renowned UK jazz vocalist and multi-award winner, Claire Martin OBE, reunites with her accomplished Swedish trio, led by the exceptional pianist and arranger Martin Sjöstedt, for their latest collaborative endeavour – 'Almost in Your Arms' (Stunt Records).
This marks their second collaboration, promising an extraordinary musical journey. The album features distinguished guest soloists, including English singer Charlie Wood in a captivating duet covering Tom Waits' 'This One's from the Heart'. Joining this stellar lineup are American vibes virtuoso Joe Locke and Swedish saxophone ace Karl-Martin Almqvist, adding layers of depth and artistry.
'Almost in Your Arms' beautifully highlights Claire's unparalleled skill in seamlessly blending classic jazz standards, such as the title track from the movie 'Houseboat', with contemporary pieces by the likes of Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright, and Mark Winkler.
Anchored by the in-demand bass player Nikolas Fernqvist and the rhythmic precision of drummer Daniel Fredriksson, this ensemble forms a swinging band featuring some of Europe's foremost jazz talents. The album promises a fusion of timeless classics and modern compositions, skillfully delivered by this ensemble of top-tier musicians.
