QCBA + Omar
"There are shades of soul, funk, blues and gospel woven into Omar's material, along with Afro-Latin and bossa-nova rhythms to enjoy. It's ideal, feelgood music" – Jazz Journal
Omar Lyefook MBE is one of the greatest soul music talents the UK has produced in the last 40 years. He has collaborated with major artists including Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Common, Carleen Anderson, D'Angelo and Angie Stone, as well as U.K. artists Courtney Pine, Rodney P and Kele LeRoc. He is perhaps best known for his hit song 'There's nothing like this'.
QCBA is the brainchild of trumpeter Quentin Collins and saxophonist Brandon Allen. A Hammond organ driven quartet playing funky and contemporary original music, heavily influenced by the 60's Blue Note sound. Quentin and Brandon have been performing together for over 20 years. As well as leading their own groups, they have been the frontline of the Kyle Eastwood Band for the past 10 years, touring extensively.
Completing the line-up are the masterful Ross Stanley (organ) and Ian Thomas (drums). The combination of Omar's distinctive and soulful voice and QCBA's contemporary take on the Bluenote sound makes for an exciting and potent mix.
"The mix of Latin stylings, funk rhythms and soulful lyrics, paired with the jazz masters that are QCBA, made for an evening of high-class entertainment" – London Jazz News
