Songbird: A Celebration of Eva Cassidy

Songbird: A Celebration of Eva Cassidy pays tribute to one of America's most renowned singers, who found posthumous fame with spellbinding interpretations of classic songs, including 'Over The Rainbow', 'Fields of Gold' and 'Songbird'. Four world-class musicians and passionate Eva Cassidy fans, blend their own interpretations with Eva's classic renditions.

Despite achieving little success in her short lifetime, Eva Cassidy has since become internationally celebrated for her timeless renditions of well-known songs, spanning folk, pop, jazz, blues and gospel. Eva's music has the power to captivate audiences; her voice angelic but full of emotional depth and maturity.

'Songbird: A Celebration of Eva Cassidy' honours Eva in a way that prioritises authenticity and heartfelt performance from four passionate jazz musicians. The show explores music from the only album released during her lifetime, 'Live at Blues Alley', which features full band performances of "People Get Ready" and "Wade in the Water", as well as stripped back covers of "Fields of Gold" and "Autumn Leaves". They also delve into the incredible music that was released posthumously, such as "Over the Rainbow" and "Songbird", and finally – in true Eva Cassidy fashion – some of their own re-workings that speak powerfully to their audiences and to them as musicians.

Sara Leanne is a professional singer and pianist, specialising in soul, jazz, blues, and folk music.
