Meet the real people of medieval Sherwood Forest, the characters that illuminated the legend of Robin Hood.
Come and learn about the archaeology and history behind the real Sherwood Forest; the landscape, administration, Forest Law, daily life, farming, woodland, heath, monasteries, hunting, and the royal palace of Clipstone.
Join Community Archaeologist Andy Gaunt, a leading expert on the medieval landscape of the Forest.
Andy is a Director of Mercian Archaeological Services CIC and has been a community archaeologist in Nottinghamshire for many years; supervising and managing archaeological fieldwork, as well as undertaking research, training, lecturing and public engagement.
Andy will introduce the Kings, Queens, foresters, wardens, villagers, monks, poachers, and outlaws that make up the famous forest. The talk will also show how the landscape and administration of Sherwood Forest are essential to the development of the legends of Robin Hood.
Places are limited, so get your tickets soon. Tickets are only £5 per person. Not suitable for under 16’s
