The Castle Green becomes an amazing live action battle ground and jousting arena. The audience get an opportunity to cheer on Robin Hood and his Merry Men as they spar with the Sheriff of Nottingham. Medieval warriors take to the stage and clash in deadly combat. The noble art of Falconry will be demonstrated with birds of prey taking to the skies to demonstrate their aerial expertise and hunting capabilities.

In the midst of the atmospheric military camp and village there is a chance to watch entertainers as they tell the stories of old through theatre and the enjoyable antics of medieval stuntmen. Children can take part in traditional activities such as carving, table weaving and fletching, or pick up a bow and arrow and try their hand at archery. Add to this a host of period costume characters such as Friar Tuck, Prince John and King Richard and the day truly becomes a feast of all things medieval.

Councillor David Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Tourism at Nottingham City Council, said: "We are proud to present this annual celebratory event of Nottingham's most famous outlaw, Robin Hood. A highlight in our events calendar, the Robin Hood Pageant goes from strength to strength offering an exciting programme of activities for families and visitors to enjoy.

"This fun-packed day out gives people a unique chance to meet Robin Hood and his Merry Men and King Richard I in his royal camp. Visitors can see living history demonstrations, experience wandering minstrels and historical entertainers, try medieval ale, visit the craft stalls and soak up the atmosphere.

"Markmark Productions in the guise of 'The Medieval Maniax' have developed the new street theatre specifically for the Robin Hood Pageant 2012. With new jokes, new fights, new costumes and new tights The Medieval Maniax will bring a spectacular new comedy to this year's festival. With material from medieval ballads, old comics and Errol Flynn movies, expect jokes, slapstick and mayhem!"
