This week we are sharing Jo Atkinson’s favourite places in Nottinghamshire. If you would like to share your ‘favourites’ with us, email us at social@experiencenottinghamshire.com or use the comment section below. You may feature on our blog and our various social media platforms.   We asked Jo Atkinson from the Forestry Commission for her favourite places in the county. Jo works to promote and preserve Nottinghamshire's great forests and is passionate about our natural heritage. "- The footpath leading out of Retford towards Grove across the fields .... fantastic hedgerows that in spring are bursting with blackthorn blossom, swallows soaring and swooping across the fields in summer, blackberries and sloes in autumn and glorious sunsets over Retford from the top of Castle Hill. Rufford Park in the early evening when everyone else has gone home ... especially on a crisp snowy, winter's evening. Retford Market on a Saturday - wonderful cheese and olive stall, fish stalls, fruit & veg and lots of great tea shops nearby. - Walking in any of our wonderful woodlands, but particularly Gamston Wood for a profusion of spring flowers and the Birklands for stunning twisted and gnarled oak trees."
