Ghoulish & gruesome: The Nottingham Ghost Walk never disappoints.

I've always been a little sceptical of the 'paranormal', but since it was the weekend just after Halloween, I decided to get in the... spirit... as it were, on Saturday. The Nottingham Ghost Walk started at 7pm at the Salutation Inn, and you could immediately see our tour guides, donned in top hats and outfits that an upstanding Victorian gentleman would have been proud of. It was great to see the passion that they clearly had for their profession. Another thing that stood out was the sheer amount of people craving these ghostly tales - by no means is the ghost walk lagging in popularity. On the contrary, around 30 people were on our tour alone, but don't be fooled, just because a lot of people attend does not mean the trail is any less creepy or delightful. Our tour guide was engaging, funny and just the right amount of weird to get you in the mood for the ghostly venture. We were led into the caves beneath the Salutation Inn where we were told stories of ghostly goings-on dating back hundreds of years. Look out for creepy surprises if you go down there... Among the key locations for ghost hunting and hauntings, we were also led to a graveyard and told some truly grim stories of old execution methods and living conditions of Victorian Nottingham that left my stomach churning. The gruesome tales were engaging and exciting. Our tour guide came with a flute, and in between stories, we were treated to lovely music which set the scene and offered a well-rounded experience. I was left convinced of the paranormal stories, just from the compelling yet chilling stories our tour guide was  unravelling for us. Spooky, yet undeniably exciting, it's no wonder that the Nottingham Ghost Walk is hugely popular. This is one walk you won't forget in a hurry. The Ghost Walk starts at 7pm every Saturday in the entrance of the Salutation Inn. Booking is not essential.
