Looking for another way to entertain the kids during the school holidays, or a great idea for a family day out? For fun with outdoor adventures and animals, we recommend a trip to the Tropical Butterfly House. When visiting North Nottinghamshire you’re in the perfect location for a trip to the Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife & Falconry Centre. The Tropical Butterfly house, Wildlife & Falconry Centre offers the perfect family day out, with both indoor and outdoor spaces in which to play, learn and discover all about your favourite animals. Rain or shine, the attraction is well equipped to keep both young and old busy with a full itinerary of activities, talks and shows. Be transported into different worlds, from the sub tropics of the butterfly house where free-flying birds, fruit bats and butterflies sweep past, to the traditional farm barn where you can meet and feed friendly pigs, goats and sheep. The centre is also home to a selection of more intriguing animals, from a pair of caiman, to a family a curious meerkats and even a friendly skunk. Wander at your own pace throughout the grounds – and look out for free-roaming animals and birds. It is easy to plan a full day’s activities at the centre, from daily talks and feeding times, to interactive animal encounters. Activities change on a seasonal basis, so no two visits are the same! Face your fears and encounter snakes and creepy crawlies, or get up close and personal with majestic birds of prey. Be sure not to miss the daily parrot show; marvel at clever birds showing off their skills, from skateboarding to playing basketball – you’ll be amazed at what they can do. The attraction is always adding new faces to their family, including the recent addition of Kato, a green winged macaw. Look out for Kato's first fly-past in the popular aviary shows, as he sweeps overhead! Keep the kids active with a trip to the Play Park and round off your day with a visit to the Jungle gift shop! The centre also boasts a café with light lunches, homemade cakes and scones to feed those hungry explorers after a full day of animal fun. You can even dine al fresco if the weather is nice. Visitors over the Easter holidays can enjoy the brand new ‘Mad about Madagascar’ event, allowing you to get a closer look at the ring-tailed lemurs and learn more about other fascinating Madagascan creatures from the specialised keepers. Between Easter and September, The Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife & Falconry Centre is open weekdays between 10am and 4:30pm and weekends and during school holidays between 10am and 5pm. Daily activities may be subject to change, and weather dependent. Have you been to the Tropical Butterfly House? Let us know what you think on our Facebook and Twitter pages!
