In Notts we love to plan ahead. Welcome to our new monthly events roundup. A handy guide to the best of what’s on this month, allowing you to fill your diary with top Notts events. Here is just a small roundup of some of the great events you can experience during April in Nottinghamshire. Don’t miss! Events Newark Showground has plenty on offer in April, with the Newark & Notts Garden Show on 19-21 April for those with green fingers and thumbs, and the All About Dogs show on 20-21 April for four legged friends (owners welcome too!). Head to the Riverbank Bar & Kitchen to enjoy a Spring Wine Festival on 25 April. For just £10pp attendees can try a variety of wines from seven producers, and can look forward to ‘on the night’ offers. Strike a pose with 48 hours of Fashion at Old Market Square, Nottingham on 27-28 April. Visitors to the two day event will be treated to stylish tips, catwalk shows and fabulous fashion advice.  Arts & Entertainment A couple of exhibitions come to a close during April, including John Newling & Piero Gilardi at Nottingham Contemporary, and Realism in Rawiya at New Art Exchange. Don’t miss your chance to view these exhibits, with FREE entry. This month is also your last chance to visit the Runners & Riders exhibition in The Harley Gallery treasury; uncover how the Cavendish-Bentinck family helped to develop horse racing into the sport it is today. Closes 28 April. Be sure to visit the current exhibition at The Harley Gallery, The Bodging Project whilst you’re there. Open all month [closes in June], the exhibition sees the work of ten renowned designers who took part in woodland workshops and went back-to-basics with traditional ‘bodging techniques’. Southwell Minster also offers up an exhibition of handmade furniture by Patrick Turk, Master Craftsman. The Forest 2 Furniture exhibition runs from 5-30 April and features beautiful furniture made from a variety of wood, including English yew and sweet chestnut. Great for families Plan a trip to the theatre this month with two plays which are a must-see for all the family. There is still time to enjoy an enchanting performance of I was a Rat!, the Philip Pullman classic currently wowing audiences at Nottingham Playhouse, which runs until 13 April, or catch the Roald Dahl classic James and the Giant Peach at Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall until 14 April. The Galleries of Justice Museum are offering a host of fun FREE activities throughout the Easter Holidays, alongside the usual performance-led tours and the thrilling new Bow Street Dock exhibition! Nottinghamshire is the perfect base to discover other attractions too. Visit the Tropical Butterfly House, for the brand new Mad About Madagascar offer, a chance to get up close and personal with Madagascan species, with specialist talks, parrot shows and Madagascan-themed activities.
