This year, Nottinghamshire favourite Thaymar Ice Cream celebrates 25 years. We thought we’d mark the anniversary by sampling their ice cream as a Friday afternoon office treat. There are over 30 flavour varieties to taste but we couldn’t get through them all, here’s what the team chose and their thoughts. David – Chunky Chocolate Velvet texture that melts in the mouth. 8/10 Dale – Rum and Raisin A real clean taste and the rum definitely gives it a kick. The raisin makes it sweet too. Certainly not a bland ice cream and I’d eat this one again. 9/10 Erin – Rocky Mountain I really loved the generous chunks of fudge, honeycomb and chocolate, which were nicely balanced out by the vanilla ice cream. I’d give it 7/10 Ruth – Rocky Mountain A little uninspiring. I had one lovely piece of fudge, one spoonful tasted of mint choc chip and the rest was like it was freezer burnt vanilla ice cream. Disappointing having heard the previous reviews and I wouldn’t buy this one again. 2/10 Rachel – Caramel Honeycomb Rich, smooth with a great hint of traditional honeycomb. Scrummy, left me wanting more. 8/10 Lynzi – Strawberries and Cream Not a huge ice-cream eater but having been tempted into trying, I can highly recommend the Strawberries & Cream. Subtle in colour, but certainly not in flavour – the rich luxurious taste of cream is complemented by a sweet strawberry hit. 8/10 Sarah - Mint Choc Chip Refreshing flavour and such a lovely surprise that it wasn’t bright green! Delighted with the amount of chocolate chips and still savouring the after taste. 7/10 Thaymar Ice Cream uses locally sourced ingredients and you can find tubs available at various attractions across Nottinghamshire. Look out for their cow logo. You can also visit the farm shop and tea room near Retford to get the full range of flavours and sample lots of homemade dishes. What's your flavour?
