ALL ABOARD FOR THE UNMISSABLE SWASHBUCKLING PANTOMIME ADVENTURE - PETER PAN!

Barney Harwood and Su Pollard brought a touch of early pantomime magic to Nottingham as they officially launched Peter Pan, the swashbuckling Theatre Royal Christmas show, this week.

Barney Harwood, who takes on the title role of Peter Pan, is best-known for presenting top children’s entertainment and as the BAFTA Award-winning face of CBBC. In 2010 Barney joined the BBC’s flagship children’s programme - Blue Peter and he is still proud to be sailing on board!

The Theatre Royal is especially delighted to welcome Su Pollard, one of the country's best-loved stars of stage and screen, back to her home city of Nottingham this Christmas. Su, who plays the role of the Magical Mermaid, is best known for playing the loveable Peggy in the 80s sitcom Hi-de-Hi! As an actress, singer, writer and comedienne, Su has enjoyed a career spanning 40 years. Her other notable career highlights have seen her appear in You Rang, M’lord? and Oh, Doctor Beeching! as well as the hugely-successful stage productions of Annie, Little Shop of Horrors and Sweet Charity.

There was one star who was unable to make the official launch of the pantomime due to commitments in his home city of Los Angeles. It was recently announced that David Hasselhoff will lead the cast of this year’s Theatre Royal pantomime. David, aka The Hoff, who will play Captain Hook, is best-known for his iconic roles as Michael Knight in Knight Rider and Mitch Buchanan in Baywatch.

Peter Pan guarantees a treasure chest full of comedy, much seasonal silliness along with stunning flying sequences. You're guaranteed to be hooked by this swashbuckling pantomime adventure which has enthralled audiences for decades and is the perfect festive treat for all the family.

“We are thrilled that such an outstanding cast will lead this year’s pantomime,” said Jonathan Kiley, Executive Producer of the show. “David’s portrayal of the villainous Captain Hook will be unmissable … watch out Nottingham, the ultimate baddie is heading your way!” Jonathan added.

Qdos Entertainment and the Theatre Royal have also announced a specially adapted and relaxed performance for theatre-goers with a wide range of disabilities and for those on the autistic spectrum on Wednesday 8th January at 1.30pm. Jonathan Saville, Director of Sales, Marketing and Development at the Theatre Royal Nottingham, is delighted with this year’s line-up of stars, “We’ve pulled out all the stops with our very special star cast this year.  Peter Pan will be the biggest and best pantomime in the region this Christmas and I’m sure that we will see our box office breaking records once again this year.”

Staged by the same team behind last year’s record-breaking production of Cinderella and presented by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s largest pantomime producer, Peter Pan will have the Theatre Royal’s hallmark of value-for-money and outstanding entertainment for all ages.
