Experience Nottinghamshire's PR manager Linda Parker paid a visit to Clumber Park Hotel and Spa's Curry and Comedy Night. Here she writes about her evening . . .  Still need somewhere to attend for your Christmas Party, or friends or family? Have no fear! Take a look at what’s on offer at Clumber Park Hotel & Spa this festive season. As well as a number of traditional Party Nights, this luxurious hotel on the edge of Sherwood Forest in north Nottinghamshire, and close to the National Trust’s Clumber Park Estate, is offering a Christmas ‘Do’ with a difference. A few colleagues from EN signed up for the first of their Comedy and Curry Party Nights (other dates are available on 12th and 19th December) and kick-started our festive celebrations in style.  After a delicious curry to begin with, we settled down to enjoy three top comedians from The Official Comedy Club. Comedy and Curry Party Night (Junior Simpson)My favourite stand-up of the evening was the headline comedian, Junior Simpson, who had the audience captivated from the very first moment he arrived on stage.  Junior is one of those naturally funny comedians and it is easy to see why he has already made many TV appearances and appeared alongside the likes of Jo Brand and Frank Skinner. He has also starred in two of his own TV series on Channel 5 - ‘In the Dark with Junior Simpson’ and ‘The Hit Men’ - and played the DJ in the hugely-successful ‘Love Actually’ film along with featuring in many other popular TV programmes. As well as sharing his many hilarious takes on the world, Junior was also an impressive impersonator and treated the audience to his array of side-splitting renditions – including a very convincing version of his own mother. Sadly, Junior’s slot was over all too soon and it was time – for us, at least – to go home.  For others, the party was only just starting as it was time for the disco to take over and for some of the other guests to party into the early hours.
