NOTTINGHAMSHIRE FINALIST TAKES SECOND PLACE IN NATIONAL SUPERSTAR TOURISM AWARDS AND IS A FINALIST IN 2014 VISITENGLAND AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE

Nottinghamshire finalist in VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar Awards, Ade Andrews of the Robin Hood Town Tour, has come a very close second in the national awards to scoop the runner-up place, reveals Experience Nottinghamshire, the destination management organisation which nominated him for the award.

The award recognises the dedication and passion of those working in the tourism industry and is awarded to individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure visitors to England have a priceless experience.  Ade lives and breathes Nottingham’s most famous outlaw and is an amazing tour guide whose passion for Robin Hood is infectious.

At the same time, Ade’s Robin Hood Town Tour has been named as a finalist in the Tourism Experience category of the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2014.

As a finalist, Ade’s Robin Hood Town Tour now goes forward to the Awards Ceremony which is being held on Monday 12 May 2014 at Cheltenham Racecourse, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Ade will have to wait until the Awards Ceremony to find out which award his Robin Hood Town Tour will receive but all finalists are guaranteed to receive either a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award.

Jennifer Spencer, Chief Executive, Experience Nottinghamshire, said: “Ade is a very worthy runner-up and has done extremely well to get to this stage in the Tourism Superstar awards.  The accolade recognises Ade’s passion and enthusiasm for his role and we would like to thank everyone in the Nottinghamshire area who supported our nomination by voting for Ade. He continues to fly the tourism flag for Nottinghamshire and contributes to the wider visitor experience in the county, going over and above the call of duty to ensure they have a quality and memorable stay.

“We understand from VisitEngland that Ade received almost as many votes as the entire competition received last year and this level of support is truly amazing.

“It is also a great achievement for Ade’s Robin Hood Town Tour to become a finalist in this year’s VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.  We look forward to finding out in May, which award he has won.”

Added Ade Andrews: “I would like to thank everyone in Nottinghamshire – and beyond – who helped me to win the runner-up award in VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar awards this year.  I am fortunate to meet many remarkable people in my work and knowing that I have had their support, is enormously gratifying.  I look forward to continuing to make sure Robin Hood’s legacy lives on though my tours and to giving tourists and locals the magical discovery they seek when they visit our wonderful county.

”I am also delighted to achieve a place as a finalist in the 2014 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence and look forward to the Awards Ceremony in May when I find out which Award the Robin Hood Town Tour has won.”

Ade will be collecting both of his Awards at VisitEngland’s Awards for Excellence held In May this year, where a gathered audience from across the whole of the tourism industry can recognise the contribution frontline staff makes to tourism across England.

The winner of VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar Award is Buzby Allen from Potters Resort in Hopton-on-Sea, Norfolk.

English Tourism Week 2014 is designed to promote the value of the tourism industry at a national and local level.  The coming week (29th March – 6th April) will see hundreds of attractions, hotels and other tourism businesses across England putting on special events, promotions and competitions to encourage more visitors through their doors, and inspire people to become tourism ambassadors for their local area.
