Any fellow beauty fanatic will agree, a luxurious escape to a spa can turn any day, come rain or shine, from drab to fab and let’s just say my day got drastically more fabulous after a visit to Nottinghamshire's very own slice of heaven - Eden Hall Day Spa. The spa is located in Elston Village, near historic Newark, on the A46 Newark-to-Leicester, seven miles from the A1 and 25 miles from the M1. Whether you are looking for the escapism of a day spa retreat whilst in Nottinghamshire, a special gift, hen do, or some alternative therapy restoration, look no further, Eden Hall has you covered. The Aqua Detox Centre After passing by the beautiful mansion many times on my way to Newark, I was so excited to explore it at last and be pampered. I booked a Relaxing Ritual with massage package which cost £109 on weekdays and £115 at weekends (there are many other packages and offers available). On top of the treatment, the day includes a lovely warm welcome, a fluffy robe and locker, heated rooms, outdoor hot tubs, a refreshing saltwater vitality pool and a seasonal three-course lunch. I opted to complement my package with a luxury pedicure too - a must before sandals weather (hopefully) arrives. I was greeted, like all of the other customers who strolled in for their beauty fix, with a warm smile and a little bit of awe at just how pretty the surroundings are! Gorgeous spa decor meets 1800s splendour – no corners were cut when they built this beauty sanctuary. My excitement was totally warranted as my host Chrissy took me on a quick tour of the building. Compact yet big enough to loose yourself in, we moved from the spacious changing rooms to the Aqua Detox Centre & pool, the Slumber Lounge, the gym & studio, the gardens, therapy rooms and up to the Palm Conservatory for a cup of tea to take it all in and plan my day. After a perfect pedicure using products by Jessica, I headed down to the Slumber Lounge to let my nail polish dry in what may be the most relaxing room ever. I jumped on a full size beanbag with blankets, tucked in a corner behind a curtain and kicked back for a while with my iPad on silent so not to disturb the other sleeping beauties. Next stop was lunch in the Seventh Heaven Restaurant and what a piece of heaven it was too. A really plentiful and beautifully presented three course menu including unlimited helpings from the scrumptious buffet. I didn’t indulge however it was great to note for future reference that you can compliment your day with alcohol including something bubbly for special occasions. If everyone wasn’t sat around in fluffy robes, you could forget you were in a spa as the classy restaurant is the full waitress service you could expect from a top eatery. Lunch fit for a princess After lunch I made a dash and a splash into the Aqua Detox Centre. Following a visit to all the aqua therapy rooms, I decided my favourite was the Saunarium which combines the best of a sauna and steam room into one. Closing my eyes, I definitely felt like I was in a tropical climate, on a beach a million miles away. Perfect place to relax your mind and revitalise your body. Can’t wait to go back already! The grand finale to my day was an Elemis back, neck and shoulder massage. Forty minutes of bliss in the treatment area of the spa. I asked my therapist for a firm pressure and that’s just what I got; the perfect massage which had all the health benefits of relieving a very sore pair of shoulders but the luxury of a high quality aromatherapy oil massage. I could have quite happily slept through the night on the couch afterwards however I begrudgingly left and drove home ... after a little splurge in the spa shop on the way. I can confidently say there is not a thing I would change about my day of escapism at Eden Hall Day Spa – simply perfect in every way and another reason to stay in Notts for longer than a day!
