Support for England is well under way at Harker’s Farm Shop in Clipston-On-The-Wolds.
Owners Rupert and Tracy Harker are passionate football fans and are doing everything they can to pass on their excitement and enthusiasm to their customers ahead of England’s first match. The flags are flying high and the butchers have swapped their traditional butchers uniform to something a little more in-keeping with the occasion.
Rupert Harker said: "Many traditional cuts of meat have been temporarily renamed and will hopefully bring a smile to our customer’s faces. We now have Ox-Cheek Chamberlain available along with Danny Wel-Back Bacon, Rooney Rump steak and Lamby Lampard Chops. Furthermore there are lots of special offers planned to kick in each time England score a goal."
They have produced two sausages ready for Saturday night, when England take on Italy. An Italian sausage recipe – with a blend of pork, sundried tomatoes, garlic, oregano and a hint of chili, as well as the Olde English – a traditional pork sausage with extra pepper and sage.
Tracy Harker said: "We absolutely love following our local football teams. I grew up going to Notts County matches and Rupert has had a Forest season ticket since he was 12 years old. After enduring a disappointing end to Forest's season we are optimistic that England will give us something to cheer about. Sporting events such as the World Cup bring about a real feel good factor and we hope our customers will join in the spirit of things."
