When we found out in the office that The Living Room in Nottingham city centre was to close we wondered just what might replace it? We were told to expect something casual but classy, vibrant and very unique. So when Missoula Montana Bar & Grill proudly opened its doors at the end of September we couldn’t wait to give this new bar and restaurant a whirl. Our first glimpse of the new Missoula Montana was at the launch party - and we certainly were not disappointed! Fitted out in a ranch style, Missoula Montana most definitely brings a little bit of America to down town Nottingham. 32408 Stonegate Pub The party was a great showcase for the type of food and amazing cocktails that are on offer at Missoula Montana, with mouth-watering and quirky, American-inspired canapés being served to the guests. Whoever thought of serving mini cheese burgers as a canapé should be commended - amazing! And what can I say about the cocktails . . . from someone who appreciates a good cocktail I can recommend those at the bar whole-heartedly! Made by a team of skilled mixologists, there is a vast array onoffer, including signature, classic and all American cocktails right through to the simply bonkers milkshake cocktails - heaven in a glass! The staff are full of beans and know how to make you feel welcome whether you are staying for a bite to eat or just for drinks, definitely adopting that customary ‘stay a while’ easy American attitude. I enjoyed the launch evening so much that I couldn't resist going back for dinner. The restaurant is definitely family friendly with a fun vibe; in a nutshell this is casual dining at its best, taking its laid back approach from the American plains. Don’t be misled into thinking that American cuisine is all about burgers and fries though; yes of course there are juicy burgers (using the finest of meat) on the menu but with top quality steaks and ribs, soups, salads and fresh fish dishes all on offer, no-one will be disappointed. Steaks in particular are a speciality. Missoula Montana only use the finest cuts of meat chosen from Creekstone Farms on the American plains and I can honestly say that the USDA steak that I chose was one of, if not the best, steak I have ever had.

Steak pictureMy next stop at Missoula Montana will be to try  one of the breakfasts, with the classic combos of pancakes with eggs and crispy bacon and waffles and syrup on the agenda. This hearty start to any day can only be described as ‘sunny side up’ surely?

My colleague also enjoyed lunch at Missoula Montana in the opening week, and she loved the soup, sandwich and salad combos as a way to try a few different things off the menu. She highly recommends the veggie burgers, which feature a very tasty patty and delicately soft bun. The perfect treat whether you’re looking for a stylish work lunch or a refuel after a morning shopping in the city. Missoula Montana Bar & Grill is a very welcome addition to our city and one that will certainly prove popular throwing a new dimension on our take on American dining and drinking. Give it a try next time you are in town and experience that ‘big country’ feel for yourself.
