EXCEPTIONAL ceramics, glass, jewellery and textiles makers from across the UK have been selected to exhibit at this year’s Lustre – the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in the East Midlands, at Nottingham Lakeside Arts. Now in its fifteenth year, this remarkable event is the perfect place to see covetable works from the very best makers across the country – whilst enjoying the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Lakeside. At this year’s Lustre, visitors to the exhibition can expect to find pieces from established exhibitors, alongside cutting-edge works by recent graduates. The finest emerging makers will be celebrated at Lustre with The Young Meteors. This group of 14 individuals has been selected from Britain’s top universities by Lesley Beale, Lakeside’s craft coordinator, who said: “When I tell people that I am really looking forward to November they think I’m mad, until I tell them that’s when Lustre is on. “I get to meet some of the most exciting makers in the country and beyond and nurture new talent with our graduate programme Young Meteors. This year is no exception. “I’ve just come back from New Designers where I have selected some really exciting new work. I can’t wait for people to see it - roll on November!” Lakeside will be welcoming back previous exhibitors including Hughes and Templin from Germany, who make striking silver and gold jewellery, glass-maker Stuart Akroyd and Kate McBride who will once again be showing off her beautiful, intricate ceramics. Shona Powell, Director at Lakeside, said: “Lustre is an eagerly anticipated event in the creative calendar and 2015 will certainly be no exception. Our links to the city centre will be stronger than ever thanks to the arrival of the tram – and we are certain this ease of access, will make coming to Lustre even more accessible for lovers of homeware, jewellery and art. “We strive to show a diverse array of creative talent at Lustre and we have attracted a variety of makers from across the UK to exhibit at this year’s event. Lustre offers them an opportunity to showcase in the Midlands.” Lustre will be taking place from 7 - 8 November 2015, at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, DH Lawrence Pavilion and Djanogly Art Gallery, University Park, Nottingham.   Find out more at http://www.lakesidearts.org.uk/Crafts/LUSTRE.html
