We have always known what a fabulous city Nottingham is; named as England’s least car dependent city, with award winning bus services, a wonderful new tram system, fabulous shopping, and steeped in history, there is therefore no better place to undertake the Cryptology Detective Tour. This is a self-guided clue-based mystery tour in and around Nottingham city centre, suitable for groups of up to 8 or for two groups to compete in opposite directions, where you will discover a different side of Nottingham. Answer riddles, solve puzzles, track locations and discover Nottingham’s secrets! So that was the brief. Armed with our clues, myself and Annette excitedly ran to our first location which immediately brought to mind that bygone TV show ‘Treasure Hunt’ with Anneka Rice! I was nearly there with my bright pink trainers, clues in hand with Annette running behind taking photographs, just like Graham, the camera man, on the show! The tour covers almost 3 miles, taking in Nottingham’s finest! Don’t be surprised to take in20151029_142247 lots of scenery and greenery. The clues will lead you to Nottingham’s two famous sons (Brian and Robin), a castle, not to mention our very famous watering hole. There is also an opportunity to feed the natives (?!) ... yes we scratched our heads at that one too! We obviously can’t tell you too much as it might spoil the fun but be prepared to see and learn a lot about this famous city. The tour encompasses all that is great and good. Whether you are Nottingham born and bred or simply visiting our wonderful city, you will learn so much about our history, see things you have never seen before, and have so much fun doing it. We had a wonderful afternoon, and back at Cryptology HQ – lovely Mark duly checked our clue finding skills – which to our surprise were pretty good! All you need are comfortable shoes, a sense of adventure, a little Anna in her pink trainers would be good according to Annette - but failing that a group of friends/family or colleagues who are looking for fun is really all you need.
