To celebrate the Great Notts Bike Ride turning 35 in 2016 the four rides on offer have been given a makeover, including renamed routes to increase the Nottinghamshire identity.    Participants can now sign up for; The Maid Marian (25 miles), The Robin Hood (50 miles), The Friar Tuck (75 Miles) and The ‘Little’ John (100 miles), all of which take place on Sunday 26th June 2016. The latest changes follow the recent announcement of the addition of a 75 mile ride that was requested by participants following a period of social media engagement after the 2015 event. Event Manager, Nik Emmonds of Perfect Motion, organisers of the event, said; “The Great Notts Bike Ride is firmly established as a Nottinghamshire institution with 35 years of history behind it.  To celebrate the ride’s landmark birthday we decided that incorporating even more famous Nottinghamshire heritage would be a nice touch that would add some personality to each of the rides. “We’ve gone with four of the most recognisable characters from the Robin Hood legend.  The hope is that this will bring a smile to the local participants and will also appeal to people from further afield who will recognise the names.  There is one famous character that is conspicuous by its absence.  All I will say on that is... watch this space!” The Great Notts Bike Ride is the grand finale to Cycle Live Nottingham, a weekend festival of cycling that takes place on the Victoria Embankment on 25th and 26th June 2016. Early bird entries for all four rides are now open via www.cyclelivenottingham.co.uk.
