When I think of Cuba I get that warm feeling of holidays past, beautiful Havana, rum and of course the famous Cuban cigar; a few of the iconic symbols that sum it up perfectly to me! If you think that Cuba is a little too far to visit though think again, as Cuba has officially Havana Rumlanded right in the heart of Nottingham city centre! Revolución de Cuba opened its doors in December 2015 and has already firmly established itself as Nottingham’s salsa loving, cocktail making, South American gem of a bar and cantina! With an extensive range of traditional white and dark rums amongst other quality spirits and a fantastic range of cocktails from your favourite mojito’s and pina colada’s through to the more adventurous creations from the resident mixologists, not to mention the delicious Cuban inspired cantina menu serving up delights all day, you are in for a real treat. Relaxed and friendly, fun and boisterous, Revolucion de Cuba is quite simply whatever you want it to be and welcomes everyone much in the spirit of the Cuban bars that have shaped its identity. A good night out is the order of the day here with plenty to take advantage of in Revolución de Cuba’s social diary! Salsa Social has already become a regular and popular fixture with dancing and live music, whilst amazing Latin bands perform on a regular basis throughout each month, certainly bringing sunshine and cheer to our dull rainy winter! Another night to look out for is their Cigar and Rum tasting evening which I recently went along to. If you like rum, as I do, this is the perfect eye opener into the world of rum and cigars. On the evening different Havana rums were circulated by an expert, the international ambassador from Havana Rum itself no less, who worked the cigar terrace serving up not only fantastic Havana rums from white rum to a 45 year old limited edition rum but a potted history of each, giving depth and meaning to the rum world that I’ve never even pondered on before. The cigar tasting probably was enjoyed more by the males in the crowd I have to say, including my husband, but I did try a little and found that I appreciated the cigar more after learning about its origins, how it was rolled and how it should be enjoyed, i.e. ‘rolled around the mouth’. A great, unique evening which I can definitely recommend to anyone! This fun loving bar is a must to visit if you haven’t already done so yet. You won’t be disappointed. I’ve now been many times and it seems to be a firm favourite amongst family and friend’s alike. One thing for certain you’re guaranteed to be ‘Havana great time’ with Revolución de Cuba!
