It’s game, set and match for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People which has been chosen as the official charity partner for two world class tennis events. Following on from last week’s announcement that Victoria Azarenka is to play in the WTA International Aegon Open Nottingham, it has been revealed that the hospice has netted the honour of becoming the tournament’s official charity for the women’s event and the men’s ATP World Tour 250 event. Rainbows will take centre court on Monday 6 June, which is the official Rainbows day. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Rainbows and people can pay any price they desire from £3. There will also be a host of activities happening on the day and collections for the charity will be around the stadium. Children and young people who benefit from the care of Rainbows will also have the opportunity to be mascots on the prestigious final days, leading the players out on to court. To celebrate the partnership and Rainbows day, Aegon Open Nottingham Women’s Tournament Director Rebecca James, Men’s Tournament Director Paul Hutchins and Head of Sales Mike McSweeney, visited the hospice to showcase the impressive Elena Baltacha Trophy to the children and young people. Maggie Deere, Rainbows Fundraiser in Nottinghamshire, said: “We were delighted to welcome Rebecca, Paul and Mike to Rainbows to launch this exciting partnership. Being able to see the prestigious trophy up close was such a wonderful opportunity for some of our children and young people and they were really thrilled to have their photo taken with it. We look forward to the tournament and the designated Rainbows day and thank everyone involved for supporting us.” Rebecca James added: “It was fantastic to be able to take the trophy in to Rainbows and showcase it to the children, young people and staff. We are thrilled to have chosen Rainbows as the official charity partner for this event and we hope that people support them.” To purchase tickets for the dedicated Rainbows day on Monday 6 June, and other days, visit http://www.experiencenottinghamshire.com/whats-on/aegon-open-nottingham-tennis-tournament-2016-p559051
