Spring Bank Holiday is nearly upon us and there are lots of exciting events taking place in the historic Newark & Sherwood area of Nottinghamshire.

Newark

Newark Castle King John Re-Enactment If you enjoy a bit of history then head to Newark Castle to see Regia Anglorum re-enact the final days of King John.  See a living history of the events leading up to and the aftermath of his death to mark 800 years since he spent his last night within the walls of fortress. Half Term at the National Civil War Centre  Meet a musketeer or dress up in a period costume at Newark's National Civil War Centre this half term holiday. You'll also be able have a go at making a King Charles Spaniel or a crown fit for a king. EX3_7253 (2)

Sherwood Forest

Sherwood Through the Ages Travel through time this Bank Holiday and meet some of the characters who shaped the legendary Sherwood Forest’s past and present, from Romans, Normans and Saxons through to World War I soldiers and of course, the rangers of today Notts Open Studio Season May and June is Open Studio season in Nottinghamshire and over the Bank Holiday weekend you can visit numerous studios and see demonstrations or even have a go at a new craft. In the Sherwood Forest Art & Craft Centre in Edwinstowe you can make a silver ring with silversmith Clare Hawley or visit the fountain pen clinic at Twiss Pens.  See the Nots Open Studio's website for full listings.

Farnsfield

White Post Farm White Post Farm will be playing host to some very special guests this Saturday. Take the kids to meet Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Leo and Raph who will making appearances at the farm throughout the day. Make sure you take a camera for some Turtles selfies!   Wheelgate Park Across the road at Robin Hood’s Wheelgate Park they will be welcoming ‘Alice In Wonderland’ throughout the week.
