Experience Nottinghamshire's Elisia takes the kids to the Spooky Spectacular at Gulliver's Kingdom As I drove along the windy country roads on the way in to Matlock Bath the views were breathtaking. The quaint villages looked picturesque; the rich autumnal leaves dotted the countryside with their rustic colours and even the children happily gazed out of the window admiring the variety of animals we spotted on the way. I was pleasantly surprised that the journey from Nottingham took just under an hour which meant no need to stop at any expensive service stations on the way and it was a bearable journey time for the children. On arrival at Gulliver’s Kingdom it was well organised and the quickest entry into a theme park that I’ve ever experienced. The children were brimming with excitement and anticipation at what the Spooky Spectacular event would entail. The park had been transformed to incorporate the Halloween theme-  there were pumpkins a-plenty, all of the water features were dyed blood red, skeletons were scattered throughout the park and staff looked sensational in their costumes. The majority of children and many adults were dressed up too, adding to the very festive atmosphere. The theme park offers a great selection of rides that are suitable for children aged 2-13yrs. I was there with my sister, nephew and niece who are 6, 12 and 13 and it is very rare that I manage to keep all three happy with my choice of outing but Gulliver’s Kingdom came up trumps. It was great that we could go on all of the rides together. There wasn’t any waiting whilst the older kids went on rides too big for the little one and it made for the best day out. The high altitude of the park added to the experience and there were plenty of rides that turned your tummy! Overall we had a fantastic day filled with family fun and we will certainly be visiting again. Matlock Bath promenade is footsteps away from Gulliver’s Kingdom and I will certainly be making sure I tie that in with my next visit; even if it’s just a quick stop for some fish and chips! It was nice to have an affordable family day out that everybody could enjoy despite the differing ages and where queuing wasn’t problematic. It’s the little things that make a big difference to your experience and Gulliver’s Kingdom goes the extra mile with their themed events- I would definitely recommend this day out to families.
