Residents and visitors to Nottinghamshire are being asked to vote for their favourite places to enjoy a drink across the county - including five which are Experience Nottinghamshire members. Best Bar None is a national scheme that uses a robust assessment process to recognise licensed premises that are well–run and responsibly managed. The 72 venues that have passed the standard are listed on the Nottinghamshire Best Bar None website, and the public are now being asked to vote for their favourites, with a chance of winning an Amazon Echo. The successfully accredited venues range from country pubs through to nightclubs, with some being independently operated premises and others part of a chain. They all share a common determination to provide the safest possible environment for their customers. Best Bar None is a national scheme that has been operating for over fifteen years, with its primary aim to increase safety in the night time economy in areas in which there is a scheme. Nottinghamshire launched the first county-wide scheme last year, and has assessed over eighty premises this year. Some passed the accreditation during the first visit, whilst others put additional measures in place to meet the high standards required following this visit. The scheme in Nottinghamshire has been jointly funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner and Nottinghamshire County Council for its first three years. Councillor Glynn Gilfoyle, Chairman of Community Safety Committee at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Many pubs and clubs across the county do some fantastic work to ensure they are providing a safe, enjoyable and well-managed environment for their customers. Best Bar None is a nationally recognised scheme which gives us the opportunity to reward that fantastic work, whilst reassuring customers that they are in the best possible hands when they go out to enjoy themselves.” PCC Paddy Tipping said: It is in everyone’s interest to ensure that we have a safe, vibrant night-time economy in the county. “I want people to have an enjoyable, safe night out, both early in the evening and later on.  The Best Bar None scheme gives customers reassurance that accredited venues are well and responsibly managed while the venues themselves continually review their practices to ensure their customer’s safety.” The Experience Nottinghamshire members who have been shortlisted are: Bread & Bitter, Mapperley The Willowbrook, Gedling Horse and Plough, Bingham Poppy and Pint, West Bridgford Stratford Haven, West Bridgford Voting closes 31st January, and the winning venues will be announced at the Nottinghamshire Best Bar None Awards evening on 28th February.
