GOK WAN, the man who transformed the lives of so many women through his popular TV shows, comes to Nottingham as lead judge for this year's Fashanne - the only East Midlands Student Fashion Awards. Awards night on June 22nd looks like being one of the city’s most exciting events.  Taking place at the beautiful medieval church of St Mary’s in Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, guests will be greeted with a glass of champagne before viewing the student design exhibition all around the church. The young designers will be on hand to talk about their work, helping guests decide upon their favourite for the People's Vote Award.  Canapés will be served, along with bespoke chocolates as guests try winning shopping vouchers, tea for two and an amazing £250 worth of jewellery.  At 8pm the cutting edge catwalk show will begin as six of the region's universities show off their top students' work.   And taking part on the catwalk, two lady models in their seventies will prove, as Gok says, 'you’re never too old to look amazing and be part of the future'. Fashanne, the East Midlands Student Fashion Awards, was founded by TV presenter Anne Davies to showcase the amazing design talent in the region's universities, giving students the opportunity to pitch themselves against each other as guests brush shoulders with celebrities and see first hand the exciting and innovative work of the next generation’s fashion, knitwear, textiles, shoe and accessory designers. But there’s another twist this year too.  As many of the UK's top fashion houses and cosmetic giants turn to more mature faces to promote their products, Fashanne is celebrating the vitality and experience of the older generation by including two models in their seventies to take part in the stunning catwalk show to culminate the evening. There is also the People's Vote.  Go to the website to see all this year's entries and vote for your favourite.  More than three thousand people have already voted, but if being up close and personal is important,  pop along to St Mary's church on Tuesday June 20th and Weds 21st to the free exhibition of this year's entries and place your vote there.  You might be one of the random winners of a shopping voucher or tea for two.
