As families gear up for the May half-term, Lakeside Arts has announced a lineup of low-cost activities for a week of fun, exploration, and unforgettable memories. From outdoor adventures to immersive experiences, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

To begin with Highfields Park is the beautiful green space just a stone’s throw from Lakeside Arts and families can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the boating lake which has a flat, easy path with stunning views. There is plenty to explore, with bridges, waterfalls and a few hidden surprises. Then why not visit the adventure playground to let off some steam, it’s suitable for children of all ages and even has some dinosaur bones hidden in the sand…

Highfields Park is free to visit with great public transport links and free parking onsite which makes it the perfect way to spend some quality time with your loved ones without spending a penny.

Luminarium Myriad – £6.50 per person

Step into a world of colour and light with the Architects of Air’s latest Luminarium, Myriad, an inflatable art installation that invites visitors to explore its vibrant, maze-like structure. This unique experience is both visually stunning and sensory-rich, making it captivating for visitors of all ages. Space Descent VR experience – £6.00

Experience what it feels like to sit inside the Soyuz capsule as it makes its dangerous high-speed journey back to Earth. Splat! – From £10.50

Unleash your creativity with Splat! Join two aspiring artists, one tidy, the other messy in this playful story featuring no language but plenty of comedy! Material Worlds Exhibition – Free

Material Worlds is an ambitious exhibition exploring how contemporary artists are using textiles in surprising and radical ways. The familiar, material stuff of everyday life is transformed into the unexpected – the ordinary made extraordinary – to explore ideas of the body, identity, gender, race, heritage, myth and folklore.
