Spritz Night at Jenkins Bar: A Sherwood Gem Shines with Local Gin and Creative Cocktails

Jenkins Bar, a 2025 National Tourism Bronze Award winner and SME Cocktail Bar of the Year 2025, has firmly established itself as one of Sherwood’s most beloved cocktail destinations since opening its doors in 2018. Nestled in the heart of Sherwood—a district known for its rich heritage and, in recent years, a vibrant revival of independent restaurants and bars—Jenkins has become a cornerstone of the area’s thriving food and drink scene.

We, here at Visit Nottingham, had the pleasure of attending their Spritz Night, and it was nothing short of fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed but still lively enough to feel like a proper night out, striking the perfect balance of being welcoming and laid-back while still offering a buzz—making it the ideal environment for any occasion.

The spritz menu was impressive—creative, well-balanced, and full of flavour. From their twist on the classic limoncello spritz to more adventurous, herb-infused variations, every drink was crafted with care, served beautifully, and in very generous quantities! The gin bases came courtesy of Nottinghamshire’s own Ruddy Fine Gin, with cocktails expertly mixed by the team at Jenkins. As we sipped and enjoyed, we had the opportunity to learn all about the gin’s creation from Rory at Ruddy Fine Gin, adding a personable and engaging touch to the evening.

We were served four unique spritzes, and the night was rounded off with a “Jenkins 25”—their bold take on the classic French 75, using navy-strength gin in place of the traditional vodka. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect companion for the long, sun-soaked summer nights on the horizon.

The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, helping to create an atmosphere where everyone felt welcome and at ease. The venue itself had a warm, inviting vibe with a few hidden surprises—most notably a secret balcony seating area, ideal for a quiet evening drink or catching up with friends.

Whether visiting for Spritz Night or simply dropping in for an after-work cocktail, Jenkins Bar is well worth a visit. With a first-rate drinks menu, personable service, and a setting full of charm, it's a true Sherwood gem that gets everything just right.
