Japan Fest Nottingham 2025: A Celebration of Japanese Culture Arrives This October

Nottingham will soon be immersed in the colours, sounds, and flavours of Japan as Japan Fest Nottingham 2025 makes its debut on Sunday, 19 October 2025, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Taking place at the Nottingham Girls High School & Squire Performing Arts Centre on Arboretum Street, the festival promises to bring “A Day in Japan” to the heart of the city.


A Full Day of Japanese Culture

Curated by Otaku World, the festival will showcase a wide range of Japanese traditions, arts, cuisine, and entertainment designed to appeal to all ages and backgrounds. From hands-on workshops to live performances, visitors can expect a truly immersive experience.


Entertainment Highlights

The stage will host an exciting lineup, including:

  • MION – A rising international J-pop sensation
     

  • Lele – A bilingual English/Japanese singer with a soulful style
     

  • Leicester Taiko – Dynamic drumming group known for their powerful performances
     

  • Noa Theatre featuring Sarurako – Blending contemporary theatre with Japanese storytelling
     

  • Kodama Project: Aki & Clementine – A fusion of traditional koto with modern melodies
     

  • LJ English – Britain’s only Kayoukyoku singer
     

  • DJ Manimal & Cerisina – Anime-fuelled DJ set including a Hatsune Miku tribute
     


Cultural Activities for All

Alongside live performances, festival-goers can take part in creative and cultural workshops:

  • Manga drawing classes with a published artist (£7 per person)
     

  • Try traditional games like Go and Shogi
     

  • Experience kimono wearing, origami, calligraphy, and Japanese language basics
     

  • Paint a traditional fox mask or enjoy the Akihabara Café atmosphere
     

  • Don your best costume for the cosplay parade

What began as a small anime specialist store has grown into a platform for events like Otaku Link and now, the expanding Japan Fest series.
