Last week our fearless little band of puzzle solvers decided to take on Break Escape’s Chocolate Factory. Now, some people prepare for challenges like this with rigorous training, research, and steely determination. Not us. We rocked up with enthusiasm, a love of chocolate, and one team member who occasionally struggles to unlock a bathroom door!
We were greeted by the legendary Billy; part host, part comedian, part “voice of God.” He bounded over with enough energy to power the factory itself, explained the rules, and set us our sugary quest: find the hidden safe and claim the chocolatey treasure. Simple enough… or so we thought.
Billy also gave us the option of hints. Did we take the sensible route and accept help along the way? Of course not, proud and naive, we went for “only if we’re desperate”
The adventure began behind a colourful vending machine door, stuffed to the brim with tempting bars of chocolate. Once it closed behind us, the countdown began.
First impressions? WOW. This wasn’t a room, it was a sweet-toothed wonderland. Walls and ceilings plastered in candy, colours popping everywhere, and (to our absolute delight) white lab coats and purple top hats ready for us to wear. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried solving puzzles dressed like a cross between a mad scientist and Willy Wonka’s eccentric cousin!
Now, I can’t spill the (cocoa) beans about the puzzles themselves, spoilers are a no-no, but I will say this…the room was packed with surprises, challenges, and just enough sugar coated chaos to keep us guessing. Chaos it truly was with the three of us darting around, shaking things, peering into things, shouting to each other and even getting buried in a surprise ball pit…just a normal day in the office really!
And did we need help? Oh yes. When the clock was running down, we swallowed our pride and summoned the Voice of God (Billy). His hints were perfectly timed, nudging us in the right direction without spoiling the fun. Think less “here’s the answer” and more “have you tried X,Y,Z…all without making us feel too much like morons.
The Grand Escape - There were moments of panic, there were moments of triumph. There were moments where I wondered if I should just eat the props, but against all odds, even I managed to contribute and we emerged victorious with a grand total of 43 seconds left on the clock!
Break Escape’s Chocolate Factory is clever, colourful, and utterly immersive. Whether you’re a seasoned escape artist or (like us) barely capable of opening a door, it’s a sugar-fuelled adventure you won’t forget. Our advice…Bring your sweet tooth, your sharpest brainpower, and a dash of imagination.
