This course approaches creative writing from the unique perspective of Nottinghamshire authors – both iconic and up and coming – and look at Nottinghamshire as it is represented in literature, from the brooding landscape of Eastwood depicted in Sons and Lovers to the bustling city streets of Hockley in The Cat Cafe.
You'll have the opportunity to read and discuss the award winning first novel, Smart written by local author Kim Slater - and share and enjoy both reading and writing for pleasure in a supportive group setting.
The course encourages creating an authentic voice by drawing on Nottinghamshire writers from different historical periods and backgrounds. By the end, participants will develop a short story based on something familiar to them.
