Available exclusively at Worksop Library, this jazz-funk quintet present an evening of pulsating grooves and insightful poetic lyrics. Featuring accomplished Jazz Performance Poet & Percussionist Dave 'Stickman' Higgins, this special performance is part of the annual Inspire Poetry Festival and includes new work inspired by the free Beyond the Bassline exhibition in the library.

Jazz fans - rest assured, this Jazz Poetry comes with a full-on jazz-funk groove. Poetry fans, experience something unique and special: reflective, rhythmic jazz with poetry-as-performance!

In the past, Dave toured internationally as the drummer with Kalima, a band promoted by Manchester's famous Factory Records, and was part of the acid jazz scene in London at that time. His current Ensemble are top-draw musicians.

Line-up: David Stickman Higgins vocals & percussion, Andy Metcalfe guitar, Karl Bingham bass, Barry Lee keyboards, Simon Potts drum kit

Dave's artistic expressions embrace poetry, percussion and performance, with themes that draw on his heritage - mum from Barbados, dad from Bury (Lancs), his life influences, healing and community.

Book now for this special Jazz Poetry gig - exclusive to Worksop Library - where Jazz-Funk and Performance Poetry creatively combine!
