"An absolute smasher of a gig from Diggin' For Diamonds at a wonderful venue! It was sold out and we had a brilliant time!" – Paulette
A 7-piece band of East Anglia's finest musicians, Diggin' For Diamonds is back by popular demand at Peggy's Skylight, for its 3rd time at the club. Proving to be one of the UK's best new soul bands, the group now has a large following and recently played at one of Britain's top Soul Weekenders.
Diggin' For Diamonds was put together by Percussionist & Soul DJ Andy Davies in 2018. Andy wanted to feature Rare 70's Soul, Funk & Disco Covers along with original material. The band are influenced by incredible Soul artists like Leroy Hutson, The Salsoul Orchestra, Alice Clark, Loleatta Holloway, Gwen McCrae and many of the independent Soul & Funk artists whose work was only released on small local labels in the USA. Some of the tunes the band play had never seen the light of day until recently.
The members of Diggin' For Diamonds have performed with the likes of Myles Sanko, The Brass Funkeys, Kathy Kosins, Resolution 88, Joanna Eden, Paul Young's Q-Tips, Don Airey, Joe Bataan, Nicholas Beard, Speedometer, Blondied, The Soft Tone Needles, Kenny Thomas and Soulutions and Dennis Taylor to name a few. The band have also performed at a range of festivals and club venues including Pizza Express, Soho, London.
