Spend a day discovering the wonderful world of gel plate printing. Under the guidance of experienced artist and tutor Carol, you will be introduced to the basic methods of 'inking' your plate and transferring the print to paper. You will be shown a variety of simple methods to add layers of interest, colour, images and patterns to your work using stencils, mark making tools and plant materials. Then, it's time to unleash your creativity and create your own beautiful imagery.
You can expect to make many prints. During the afternoon you will transform some of your favourites into one or more of the following:
- Decorative stars
- Your very own personalised bunting
- A set of 4 greetings cards
Who is the workshop for:
This workshop is perfect for all levels of ability, no experience or drawing skills are necessary. However, it is equally rewarding for more experienced artists looking to try something new.
What is included:
All materials, tools, 2 course homemade lunch served with wine are included, nothing to bring anything, just yourself.
More about the technique:
Printing from a gel plate is a mono printing technique which means that each print you produce is unique. Paint is applied to the surface of a gel plate using a brayer or roller. Patterns can be created on the plate, or areas of the plate masked off, before paper is laid on top. Gentle pressure on the back of the paper is sufficient to transfer the image to the paper. Complex and beautiful prints and can be achieved by varying how paint is applied and by printing onto the same piece of paper more than once.
