The Nottingham Contemporary art gallery is a staple of the city’s cultural landscape. The building itself is an elegant piece of architecture, and inside plays host to a range of thought-provoking exhibitions and events throughout the year. I was delighted to be invited to experience the current offering of art work, and try the food in their cafe  - I’m a sucker for a sculpture and a snack!

When Nottingham’s iconic sports bar, Southbank, announced their bold decision to transform the venue into something rather different, creating a space to relax, drink and dine rather than watch the footie, they certainly raised an eyebrow or two. Following a dramatic £450k revamp it has now emerged, butterfly-like, as the brand-new all-day venue, Waterside Bar + Kitchen, making the most of its fabulous riverside location in the heart of Nottingham’s sporting quarter - a mere stone’s throw from the vibrant suburb of West Bridgford and the city. Having heard on the grapevine about quite the dramatic transformation, Visit Nottinghamshire couldn’t resist going along to check it out.

Having been crowned ‘Regional Theatre of the Year’ in 2019, Nottingham Playhouse have set the standard pretty high in the past couple of years. We’re delighted that their latest production Moonlight and Magnolias falls nothing short of the brilliance we’ve come to expect – a laugh-out-loud riot which doesn’t shy away from a sensitive and intelligent discourse on representation within popular culture. 
 

The National Justice Museum are the undisputed champions of immersive, character-led experiences, so when they asked us to help solve a Valentine's Day murder at one of their Cocktails and Crime evenings, we jumped at the chance to interrogate the suspects and hunt down the clues in one of Nottingham's most extraordinary historical haunts.

Hidden amongst the rooftops of Nottingham City Centre lies one of the last subscription libraries in the UK. I must have walked past the entrance to Bromley House Library on Angel Row countless times, unaware of the enchanting maze of books and reading rooms just metres away, and couldn't resist dropping in one day.
