This week, we are sharing Hattie Startin and Jane Middlebrook's favourite places in Nottinghamshire. Hattie and Jane are local makers who both specialise in textiles, and recently exhibited at The Harley Gallery Christmas Market. If you would like to share your ‘favourites’ with us, email us at social@experiencenottinghamshire.com or use the comment section below. You may feature on our blog and our various social media platforms. Hattie Startin is a textile maker based in Nottinghamshire. "Having grown up in the Lakes and loving the countryside, I'd have to say my favourite places in Nottingham are Sherwood Forest and Newstead Abbey, along with all the fields and woods in between! I'm also interested in our local heritage and love the Framework Knitting Museum in Ruddington which is a hidden gem, and Green's Windmill in Sneinton which still mills its own flour! In town I always head to Broadway cinema for films, and my old favourite the Malt Cross which used to be an old Victorian dance hall, and has a domed glass roof! Also Primary studios which holds art and music events." Jane Middlebrook is a lace maker based in Nottinghamshire. "Although I love the Lace Market (of course) and the stimulating things going on in Nottingham city, my favourite haunts are green places like Clumber Park and Rufford Abbey. I live on the north edge of Nottingham and enjoy getting out into the beautiful countryside. The fact that we have Newstead Abbey, Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest all within easy reach is a massive bonus!"
