It's that time of year when there's plenty of food and drink lying around and everyone will have feasted on at least one Christmas dinner too many. Instead of waiting until the New Year to start your New Year’s resolution to start the diet, why not just get out and about in Notts over the festive period and take in some of the breathtaking scenery the county has to offer? You can burn off the turkey and stuffing at the same time and enjoy what Robin Hood county has to offer while the In the north of the county, there is always the stunning and breathtaking Sherwood Forest. The forest itself has many paths and walkways for you to explore, and with it being the home to the legendary Robin Hood, it's perfect for the whole family. Why not partake in a Boxing Day Revival Walk, starting from Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre? Take in some fresh air and stretch those legs as you enjoy the scenery. Alternatively, Sherwood Pines is continuing to host its Stickman Trails on the weekend of the 28th & 29th December, giving the children a chance to explore the scenery around them, understand the importance of the natural world and also have fun helping Stickman locate his friends on this mystical journey. Just down the road from here, and still in the surroundings of trees and bracken, you can discover Clumber Park, with its beautiful lakes, winding paths and luscious wildlife. The park is hosting several festive walks and trails to re-vitalise you after all the Christmas festivities. On the evening of the 29th December, there's a chance to get up close and personal with wildlife on their Evening Owl Walk. Or alternatively if you just fancy a relaxing stroll to blow away the cobwebs, the Tinsel Trek, hosted by one of the park rangers, takes in a 6-7 mile distance and is sure to leave you feeling refreshed. Of course, Nottinghamshire has many country parks to its name and any of these will provide the sufficient scenery and walking trails to guarantee you see in 2014 in the perfect shape.
