Harts Hotel in Nottingham has come to the rescue of one lucky competition winner from Liverpool, who won a competition to win a weekend in Nottingham by entering a competition on the Independent newspaper’s website, only to find the hotel he was due to stay in, The Lace Market Hotel, closed down before he was able to redeem his prize.
Andrew Lumley won a two night stay at the hotel, but, unfortunately the hotel closed in May this year – just weeks before he was due to take his prize on the weekend of Friday 13 June – Sunday 15 June.
Experience Nottinghamshire – the Destination Management Organisation responsible for driving leisure and business visitors to the county – who organised the competition in conjunction with VisitEngland, the national tourism board, appealed to Nottingham’s hotels for their help and were delighted when Harts Hotel offered to step in to help out with the prize.
Keith Laird, Head of Business Development, Experience Nottinghamshire, said: “We were disappointed to hear of the sudden closure of the Lace Market Hotel. Unfortunately the prize winner had not taken up his prize before the hotel closed down, so we appealed to the other Nottingham hotels to see if any of them could step in to help and we were delighted when Harts Hotel offered to provide the hotel accommodation in order for the prize winner to still enjoy his planned weekend away in the city centre. We would like to thank Harts Hotel for their assistance and I’m sure the winner will have a great time in Nottingham and will greatly enjoy the wonderful facilities on offer at Harts.”
Adam Worthington, General Manger, Harts Hotel & Restaurant, added: "We are thrilled to welcome Mr Lumley to Harts Hotel & Restaurant, and indeed to Nottingham, and are very happy to help in such challenging circumstances. We thoroughly recommend him to indulge in all that Nottingham and Harts Hotel & Restaurant has to offer during his time with us!"
