Enchanted Fairy Forest
 


 Tropical Butterfly House & Falcolnry Centre | Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 May I 10am - 5:30pm

There is always a fab range of things to do and see at the Tropical Butterfly House, from animal encounters with exotic species, cute critters and intriguing insects, to play areas, relaxing walks and tractor rides. Each weekend throughout May, an area of the park is being transformed into an Enchanted Fairy Forest, with tiny pixie dwellings, dragons, and fairy hideaways to discover! Head to the activity centre for face painting, fairy crafts, activities and games, and go the hunt to find a friendly Tyrannosaurus Rex called Rexy.

If you are a bit of a bike enthusiast, get down to Sherwood Pines this weekend for a jam-packed two days of fun on wheels! After getting your own adrenaline rush exploring this beautiful 3,300 acre forest, head to the visitor centre to check out live music, electric bike demo rides and bike stunt shows. Keep the kids entertained with activities in the Kids' Village, test ride Raleigh, Haibike and Lapierre bikes, pick up some excellent freebies and get involved in Pedalfest competitions!

Madame Parboiled: The Original Beggar's Banquet

Historical tour guide (and dungeon master's wife) Madame Parboiled knows a thing or two about life in the Victoria era. This Sunday she’s inviting you to rise above the doom and gloom of a pauper’s life and join her and a misfit crew of characters for a traditional Beggar's Banquet. Don your smartest rags and enjoy a night of singing, table thumping, laughter, excellent food and ale at one of Nottingham’s oldest pubs, The Bell Inn. Expect songs from musicals, comical sketches, monologues and a good old sing song to take your troubles away.

Let There Be Light - Watercolour Exhibition by Kelv Holtom

A haven of art and tranquillity in North Nottinghamshire, Patchings Art Centre is a hub of creativity set within a selection of cottages and gardens. Their latest exhibition comes from Patchings member Kelv Holtom, whose watercolour works delicately highlight the contrast between light and dark, along with a photographic print exhibition in colour and monochrome by members of The Nottingham & Notts Photographic Society. After browsing the exhibition you can check out the art shop, have a light lunch or piece of cake in the café, and take a wander through the natural beauty of the Artists' Way.

NTU Big Sing: The Armed Man and Isata Kanneh-Mason

Albert Hall | Saturday 19 May | 7.30pm

A little musical spectacle to end this week’s blog, with the Nottingham Trent University (NTU) Big Sing at the Albert Hall this Saturday. NTU Music will be joining forces with a host of voices from across the city to perform Karl Jenkins' magnificent The Armed Man. In addition, acclaimed Nottingham musician Isata Kanneh-Mason, will be playing the Rachmaninoff masterpiece Piano Concerto No.2, Op.18. Tickets available both online and on the door.
