 Light Night 2024

Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd February | Nottingham City Centre | From 5pm until late |FREE event

Illuminate your imagination as you explore the city centre, from Old Market Square to Binks Yard, and from Sneinton Market to Nottingham Castle. You can expect to see over 30 immersive and interactive light-based installations, performances, and activities after dark, all for free.

There will be many more exciting live events across the city as part of Light Night, including a selection of pop-up carnival performances presented by City Arts, bringing colour and energy to the city’s new civic space outside Nottingham Central Library. Music and belly dancing performances will also be taking place at Binks Yard, illuminated by the Canal & River Trust’s Waterfall of Lights cascading down from the roof. Old Market Square will be dappled with light from Our Beating Heart – a rotating sculpture featuring thousands of mirror fragments, as well as performances at Nottingham Contemporary and St Mary’s Church.

Make sure to stop by our Tourism Centre, just off Old Market Square, and pick up your printed event guides. They will also be available at key locations on the day. Our friendly staff will also be on hand on Saturday until 8pm to assist you with any enquiries you have.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year at the Nottingham Lunar New Year Market 2024, where visitors can immerse themselves in a vibrant atmosphere featuring a diverse array of stalls offering handmade crafts, goods, and a delightful selection of mouth-watering street food.

The market is thoughtfully organized into two floors, each providing a unique and enjoyable experience. The upper level showcases a fantastic array of handmade crafts and goods, while the lower level is dedicated to a tantalising array of culinary delights.

UV Paint Party

3. UV Paint Party

Friday 2nd February | National Ice Centre | 7pm - 9pm | Tickets from £7

The National Ice Centre are bringing back the UV paint skating party! Think… Carnival theme, gallons of paint, UV paint blasters, UV lights, dance music and loads of fun!

The paint they use is water based and non-toxic. Although the paint is water soluble, it may stain some fabrics/clothes so please wear anything you don't mind getting dirty as you'll be getting covered in paint. That being said, they recommend white t-shirts or fluorescent clothing for the ultimate glow up!!

These skating parties are very popular so pre-book your tickets online to avoid disappointment. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to arrive and put your skates on. If you need extra assistance or have special requirements, please email the venue ahead of time and they will aim to accommodate you.


London Film Music Orchestra

Join this immersive tribute to Hans Zimmer and John Williams’ most iconic music with a live chamber orchestra in a moon-lit setting.

Including the music from: Gladiator, Pirates of The Caribbean, Harry Potter, Inception & 75 minutes jam packed with cinema's most iconic music, performed live by a chamber orchestra, including: Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Blue Planet & more!

The acoustics of the hall particularly favours orchestral, choral, light acoustic performances and award ceremonies. The Hall is renowned for generating a terrific atmosphere, giving a real sense for audiences of being absorbed in the performance.

The Albert Hall Nottingham's grand ornate architecture was designed at the turn of the 20th century in the style of an Edwardian music hall. The Great Hall serves as an excellent auditorium for public performances of many genres.

Canada's Allyson June Smith is Little Smith Sunshine! If you have had the pleasure of seeing her perform in a club then you know the feeling of Allyson's presence. You leave her shows feeling like you have made a new pal, and you have because Allyson loves being on stage and loves you for being in the audience.

A self-confessed "over sharer" this show will inevitably serve up a potent observational cocktail of wit, bite and shame. So come let this "People Pleaser" please you, and meet your new best friend Allyson June Smith

After her initial forays into stand-up garnered her some success, Allyson hit the comedy club circuit, which in turn propelled her to headlining gigs at festivals. She shone in multiple high-profile slots at the Winnipeg, Halifax and Montreal's Just For Laughs festival. And that was just the start. In the years that followed she received multiple nominations for Best Female Stand-up at the Canadian Comedy Awards, taped her own Comedy Now special and did stints on Much Music's Video on Trial and CBC's The Debaters.
