Christmas at Newstead Abbey

About

Saturdays and Sundays in December, from Saturday 1 December to Sunday 23 December 2018  | 12pm - 4pm
Newstead Abbey

See the stunning Newstead Abbey transformed into a festive wonderland and experience the enchantment of a Storybook Christmas as fairy tales and childhood dreams come to life. Spectacular seasonal decorations and floral displays provide the backdrop to scenes from childhood favourites including Cinderella, Hansel & Gretel, Beauty & the Beast and Sleeping Beauty. Snow White and Prince Charming themselves will be on hand to enhance the magic!

Visitors on Fridays throughout December can enjoy a guided tour of the house to learn more about the rich history of the Abbey, from the original twelfth century monastic priory through to the exploits of infamous romantic poet Lord Byron and beyond.

Explore the beautiful gardens where paths that meander past lakes, ponds and waterfalls lead to neatly manicured, formal gardens, or make the day even more memorable with a visit to Santa’s grotto. Don’t forget to pick up a Christmas trail for an extra festive touch.

The café will be serving warming mulled wine and classic Christmas treats, while over in the Victorian Kitchen you can enjoy all the trimmings of a traditional Christmas afternoon tea.

The gift shop will be brimming with great gifts and gorgeous Christmas decorations, and visitors in the first two weekends of December will find a variety of craft and gift stalls located in the Cloisters.

Park opens at 10am; house open 12–4pm (last admission 3pm); café and shop open 10am–3.30pm.

Please note: The craft fair in the Cloisters will run on the 1st, 2nd, 8th & 9th December only.

Parking £6, includes access to grounds and gardens only. Additional charges may apply for events.
