About

Thursday 6 - Sunday 9 and Thursday 13 - Sunday 16 September 2018
Various venues in Nottinghamshire

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,500 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers. Every year in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history - for the first time there will be two packed weekends of events taking place.

It is a chance to discover hidden treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities which bring to life local history and culture – and it’s all FREE.

With free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission, there are various events taking place across Nottinghamshire.

This year includes the first national Heritage Open Day photography competition. Whether it’s the tallest tower, an industrial relic or a bustling street parade, take a snap of what you loved about your Heritage Open Days visit. Visitors, volunteers and organisers can all get involved by submitting their best images, for a chance to win fantastic prizes. Find out more about the competition, prizes on offer and how to enter here.

Please see below for participating heritage attractions throughout Nottinghamshire. More to be announced.

For further details about venues taking part else where in Nottinghamshire as well as nationally please see www.heritageopendays.org.uk

Please note: events are free but extra charges may apply for parking or access to certain exhibitions. If in doubt please call the venue itself before visiting.
